He or she can treat an ingrown nail with a simple surgery to remove the offending edge of the nail. Following this procedure, the patient is permanently relieved since the remaining nail grows normally and the side of the nail that entered the pulp no longer grows back. This changes little or nothing in the appearance of the nail on the toe.
